Graduated from the mechanical engineering department of the KPI in 1974. He works at the department of dynamics and strength of machines and strength of materials since 1974 as assistant, associate professor and professor. Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 1994. Since 1999 by now he is the director of the Institute of mechanical engineering. Head of the department of dynamics and strength of machines and strength of materials from 1994 to 2015. Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology for 1990.
Bobyr is a well-known expert in the field of fatigue and creep of materials and elements of constructions of various purposes, taking into account the main thermo-power parameters of the operating load.
The main scientific works are devoted to the development of effective methods for calculating the stress-strain state, predicting the resource at the design stage and at the stage of operation, taking into account scattered damage, elements of structures in the aerospace industry and power engineering.
According to the results of scientific research, he published over 200 scientific articles, including 2 monographs and 3 textbooks and manuals. Under his guidance 8 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended.
